Travel to Mallorca

Mallorca is a very popular tourist destination for many European countries and can be reached by direct flights from all major airports in Europe. Another way of getting to the island is on a ferry from Spain or on certain Mediterranean cruises.

Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI)

Mallorca's airport, Son Sant Joan airport, is located a few kilometers Southeast of the capital Palma. It is one of the busiest airports in Europe with over 20 million passengers going through the airport already in 2004 and the number is increasing every year. Majorty of passengers are from Germany, Spain and Britain.

Transport from the Airport

Transport from Palma airport to your accommodation can be in the form of a public bus, airport taxi or shuttle service, rental car or if you are on a package holiday the travel company will usually arrange for a hire bus to take you directly to your hotel.

Public Bus
If you are traveling on a budget or prefer to select an ecologically friendlier form of transport, bus line 1 goes between Palma and the airport. To see bus stops and route on map go to: www.emtpalma.es

Airport Taxi or Shuttle Service
There are several companies providing taxi and shuttle services from the airport and many of them have stands at the airport. However, most of the stands are not open outside of the busiest times, so we recommend booking your transport before you travel. Airport taxis and shuttle buses can be booked privately for your travel group or a slightly cheaper alternative is to select the option where you share your transport vehicle with others going to the same resort as you if there are any such persons.

Car Rental
The largest car rental companies have stands at the airport where you can rent a car on location during the slower seasons. However, during the busiest months of about June to September, it is a good idea to reserve your holiday car in advance to make sure that you have a car, because there aren't enough cars for everyone during the popular summer season.
