General Information on Palma de Mallorca
Palma de Mallorca is the largest city on the island with a population of over 300,000 people. Palma is the main point of entry to the island with the Port of Palma receiving large cruiseships and the Son Sant Joan airport on the outskirts of Palma receiving all international flights to Mallorca. Palma is also a great place for shopping and has several tourist attractions, of which the Cathedral La Seu is one of the most well known.

Shopping in Palma de Mallorca
Palma's main shopping streets are the stylish Passeig des Born with designer stores and Jaume II with its numerous boutiques. There is also a shopping center under Plaça Major, the main square, which lies at the Northern end of Jaume II, where you can find shops selling leather handbags and other souvenirs. There are lots of small boutiques in the region near Plaça Major where you can explore all kinds of stores from clothes stores and jewelry stores to rarer jewels like a small boutique specialized in lovely scented soaps.
El Corte Inglés department stores
El Corte Inglés is the largest department store chain in Spain and there are two large El Corte Inglés departments stores in Palma located at Avda. d'Alexandre Rosselló which is near the train station and the other at Avda. Jaime III, which starts at the Northern end of Passeig des Born.
Porto Pi shopping center
Porto Pi shopping center lies Southwest of Palma centrum near Cala Mayor, next to the main road Avinguda Gabriel Roca. You can find lots of stores here and if you are staying in one of the resorts Southwest of Palma (Palma Nova, Magaluf, Illetas, Portals Nous...) then it is only a short busride away.

Bon Lloc is Palma's first vegetarian restaurant. Bon Lloc is nowdays very popular and it is almost always full. The restaurant is not a la carte restaurant but instead Bon Lloc is ofering daily set menus inspired by the variety of fresh seasonal products available at the market. The menu consists of three dishes and a dessert and it costs around 13.50€ per person. Bon Lloc is open from Monday to Saturday during the lunch hours only from 13.00 to 16.00. Bon Lloc is located in the historical quarter of Palma de Mallorca.

The imposing Bell Tower houses 9 bells, the most famous of which is "N'Eloi", 2m in diameter with a weight of 5,700 kg. Other highlights of the cathedral include the Mirada Portal, a Spanish Gothic masterpiece put together in the period 1389 - 1401 and the oldest part of the church, the choir area which is a magnificent sight with 110 walnut choir stalls.

Getting around in Palma de Mallorca
In Palma de Mallorca there is a great network of public transportation available. The bus lines are operated by EMT Palma, The Empresa Municipal de Transports (Municipal Transport Company). You can download the timetables and read more about the bus routes from the Ajuntamente de Palma website.
Night Bus of Palma de Mallorca
There is also the new night bus line which tours the city every 15 minutes in the night time. The route unifies the entertainment area on the Passeig Marítim with the Passeig Mallorca, Plaça d'Espanya and Porta des Camp. Read more about the night bus line of Palma here.
Driving a rental car in Palma de Mallorca
If you don't feel like using the public transportation or walking, there is an option to drive around the town with a rental car. All the major streets are clearly marked and well conditioned and there are many underground parking halls along the main streets of the city. The parking in these halls is very cheap if compared to typical prices in major European cities.
If you are looking for a more exiting way to go, you can also take ride with horse-drawn carriages. There are different prices for varying routes, a 30 minute ride costs 30 euros and one hour ride costs 50 euros.
