Fundación Yannick y Ben Jakober
Six kilometres from Alcúdia, along the attractive road Camí
del Coll Baix, you will find Sa Bassa Blanca, home of the
Fundación Yannick y Ben Jakober.
This original art centre is surrounded by a Natural Park
(ANEI). Its underground museum shows a permanent
selection of the Nins collection, portraits of children
from the 16th to the 19th centuries, a historical-artistic
document about childhood in Europe during one of the most interesting eras of European history.
In the main building, there is an exhibition of
Contemporary Art, with works by Domenico Gnoli, Vu
Cao Dam, Rebecca Horn and Meret Oppenheim, among
others.
The Fundación also has another underground space called
Sokrates, with works by diverse artists such as Miquel
Barceló, Dolores Vita or Gerhard Merz; an aesthetic
experience.
To complement the inside exhibitions the visitors can walk
around the Sculpture Park, a priviledged site in the open air,
with large dimension sculptures by the artists and founders:
Ben Jakober and Yannick Vu.
In spring one can also visit the Rose Garden with over a
hundred varieties of old and English roses.
