La Granja is a historical mansion located in the Tramuntana mountains near the town of Esporles. The large 3000 square meter mansion was originally a Cistercian Convent and was converted into a mansion 40 years ago. Today La Granja is open daily for tourist visits where one can view the mansion's various halls, dining rooms, bedrooms, terraces and even jails with their historical furnishings.
La Granja's garden stretches over 20.000 square meters and is also open to tourists with its fountains, ponds, beautiful flowers, magnificent old trees and different wild and domestic animals that especially children will enjoy.
La Granja also offers free tastings of Mallorcan specialities like jams, cheese, fig cake and "sobrassada" as well as displays of old handicrafts, tools and machinery. Twice each week La Granja offers the chance to view their special horse show, handicrafts demonstrations, folkdancing and music.
There is a cafeteria and restaurant on the premises serving Mallorcan and regional specialities. Special events such as weddings, anniversaries, business lunches and dinners can also be hosted at La Granja with the largest space having a capacity for 250 people.
Accessing La Granja
La Granja is best accessed either on an organized bus excursion or by car. Bus trips are available from most resorts and usually coincide with the special demonstration days of La Granja. Despite its location within a valley in the Tramuntana mountains, the best driving route to La Granja is fairly even ground (no spaghetti roads) and of good quality all the way. From Palma head for Valldemossa along road PM-111 and after approx. 7 km turn towards Esporles at the roundabout. The road goes straight through the lovely town of Esporles, after which La Granja signs will be visible. At the end there is enough parking spaces for around hundred cars.
